As Operations Manager for CFA Val oversees the day to day interworkings which includes: facilities, IT equipment, warehousing, operating budgets, and sales processes. He is a creative solutions provider who works closely with the firm’s principals’ to develop, implement, and track procedures and processes that continuously improves efficiency while ensuring a smooth profitable operation. Val also acts as the main liaison between CFA and their service provider, (CFS) Commercial Furniture Services, where he facilitates project planning, logistics, installations and service work.

Whitney is a registered interior designer who is licensed in the state of Tennessee and brings 11 years of design experience to cfa. Whitney supports Byron Smith for UT Housing where she is very committed to exceeding her clients’ expectations through meticulous attention to detail, adherence to codes, sophisticated aesthetic style, and functionality. She compliments Byron’s strengths with her consummate professionalism, ability to multi-task, stellar time management skills., and clear discernment to prioritize work.

Byron lives his company’s mission in aspiring every project to be “on time, complete & defect free.” Byron has a clear strategy for every project and his 33 years of higher education experience qualifies him as an expert in meeting the ever-changing demands of campus life. A culmination of industry experience dating back to 1974 has donned him a master at processes, procedures and protocol so whether it’s new construction, renovation or a day to day project Byron consistently maintains budgets, proactively establishes cost savings ideas and stays abreast of new products and technologies for his clients.

Sondra brings Leadership and Cohesion to cfa by serving as both an internal and external customer advocate. She is responsible for the order entry process then works directly with manufacturers to ensure all East Tennessee orders are acknowledged, tracked, and invoiced properly. She coordinates with the CFA Sales team and the CFS Service team to facilitate all project logistics. Sondra’s strong work ethic and deep commitment to her customers is evident in the calm, consistent confidence with which she manages her work. Her attention to detail is unparalleled while her intuitive ability to resolve problems makes her a vital nucleus.

Accounting Manager


Jonathan has a calm confidence that gives him the ability to work independently or with a team in this fast-paced, high volume environment withemphasis on accuracy and timeliness as he controls Receivables, Payables, and all aspects of CFA’s accounting. He multi-tasks in an organized, professional manner as has the tall order of supporting cfa’s 5 offices, 21 employees, 134 vendors and hundreds of customers across Tennessee and Georgia. When Jonathan is not at work, he can usually be found on the golf course, year ‘round.

You may never see Sam, but he is a critical cog in the wheel of CFA’s policies, procedures, employee benefits and financial statements. Sam ensures compliance with state and federal tax filing requirements by studying and adhering to regulations, advising management on required actions and providing financial direction by applying financial principles and practices to CFA’s day to day operations. His jolly persona and kind nature makes him an office favorite.

Missy’s energy, enthusiasm and exceptional creativity brings cohesiveness to the company and is reflected in how CFA goes to market. She has a positive outlook on business and life and continually looks for new ways of communicating CFA’s brand whether it’s through written media, social media, trade shows and events, or personal interaction. She acts as liaison for the Architecture and Design community across the state and drives opportunities for CFA to further the Interior Design Industry by community involvement with IIDA, AIA, and local colleges such as Pellissippi State where she sits on the Advisory Board for the Interior Design Department.
